Josune Bereziartu (Basque C o u n t r y , Spain) is currently by far the strongest female rock climber and sport climber in the w o r l d . She climbs on par w i t h the best men, far above any of us can even imagine in our wildest dreams. Josune has been consistently pushing the envelope of the world rock climbing by sending milestone routes such as H o n k y Tonky (8c, 5.14c), Bain de Sang (9a, 5.14d), and Bimbaluna (9a+, 5.15a). If these numbers don't tell you m u c h , just imagine overhanging glass slabs and Josune Bereziartu holding on microscopic holds somewhere in the middle. She also has a record of climbing on-sight, that is, showing up and climbing with no previous " b e t a " or trying - Steroid Performance (8b, 5.13d). M o r e o v e r , Bereziartu is a passionate photographer, storyteller and a great and intense human being. Beth R o d d e n and T o m m y C a l d w e l l (USA) are two of the most accomplished rock climbers in the w o r l d . As husband and wife, they spend the majority of their time touring the globe, and seeking out new and exciting climbing adventures. They are the only couple in the world to have free-climbed El Capitan, a challenge few climbers have achieved. The hardest routes in the country have been established by Tommy, and Beth is c o n s t a n t l y f o r g i n g the first female ascents. T h i s past fall T o m m y C a l d w e l l free climbed both The Nose and Freerider on E l C a p i t a n in a c o m b i n e d time of 23 hours and 23 minutes. The only person other than Tommy ever to free climb T h e N o s e in a day was Lynn H i l l almost twelve years ago.
