Seymour Art Gallery hosts two new exhibits is an apt title for Pnina Granirer's current exhibition. The w e l l - k n o w n Vancouver artist is interested in h o w the body moves in dance. Painting and dance, our most basic art forms, have been linked since early cave drawings. Granirer gives this collaboration a new spin with suspended clear flexible panels on w h i c h she has painted life-size dancing figures that appear to float in the air. Seen through the gliding transparent figures are very textured paintings of the dancers w h i c h reinforces the sensation of movement. Floating Dancers Paper, Rock, Scissors Three N o r t h Vancouver artists merge their complimentary art works for this last exhibit of the year. Heather M c A l p i n e ' s paintings usually show an abstract view of an organic process such as released seeds drifting in space. " M y ultimate aim is to explore the relationship between abstraction and the vitality of the natural world." Heather Cairns is w e l l - k n o w n for her arresting pottery pieces. F o r this exhibit, she promises something totally different. " B y incorporating the visual imagery I have experienced on my travels, I w i l l create ceramic 'vignettes' celebrating the rituals of life." Clothing and textile designer and artist, Katherine Soucie, enjoys creating one of a kind fashion items using non-traditional materials.
