I g o t h o m e that night a n d t h o u g h t y o u k n o w that's a story that has t o be t o l d b e c a u s e . . . p e o p l e d o n ' t see t h e m . " N i n e m o n t h s later his t h o u g h t t u r n e d t o a c t i o n w i t h his first musical p r o d u c t i o n at C a p i l a n o C o l l e g e ' s Birch T h e a t r e . Eight years later, this September, it will g r a c e t h e s a m e stage. Today ·he brings a w h o l e n e w p r o d u c t i o n w i t h a n e n t i r e l y d i f f e r e n t cast, musical score, set d e s i g n a n d storyline. O p e n t o criticism a n d a i m i n g f o r reality, t h e entire s h o w has b e e n r e v a m p e d a n d w o r k - s h o p p e d w i t h a t o p n o t c h cast a n d c r e w a n d i n s i d e r s ' insights into t h e very lives it aims t o portray. It is a c o u r a g e o u s endeavour, of a story rarely t o l d , in a society w h e r e a p a t h y a n d ignorance so often dictate o u r societies' course of inaction. This a c t i o n a i m s t o b e a catalyst in b r e a k i n g t h e s e i n d i v i d u a l tragedies, giving a voice a n d a n identity t o a w o r l d w e so o f t e n hide f r o m . " I used t o hear it d o w n the halls o f Seycove S e c o n d a r y S c h o o l , w h e r e I'm sure it is still a steady c o n s t a n t , albeit t h e n a m e s c h a n g e . If y o u p r o b e m o r e closely y o u ' l l f i n d he's c o a c h e d baseball f o r 2 6 years, t y p i c a l l y t o 15 a n d 16 y e a r o l d s , he's a S p e c i a l E d u c a t i o n A i d at S e y c o v e S e c o n d a r y w h e r e he a l s o c o a c h e s volleyball a n d b a s k e t b a l l a n d is o n e o f t h e A t h l e t i c Directors. He also m a n a g e s t o direct s c h o o l m u s i c a l s -- o f w h i c h t h e past t w o years have h a d casts in excess of 1 0 0 s t u d e n t s . It's "just a matter of g e t t i n g students involved in s o m e t h i n g a n d m a k i n g t h e m feel s u c c e s s f u l , " he says.
