Tuesday, October 21 (Senior's Day): Seniors on the Net - a special demonstration of searches and websites of special Interest to retired people. Other authors scheduled to read include Herman Knell, author of To destroy a city: strategic bombing and its human consequences in World War II, and Giller prize nominee Bill Gaston, who grew up in Deep Cove. celebrate the role of libraries in the community with a week-long series of special events, displays and contests for the public. The theme of this year's event is Take the Library Challenge , and among the fun activities 1 will be a Trivial Pursuits-type of contest which will challenge participants to explore the wide variety of online resources available through the library's homepage. All library patrons are invited to participate, and book prizes will be awarded in each branch. The week will kick off with a bang with another BIG BOOK SALE from the Friends of the Library, on October 17th and 18th. The location will be the old Credit Union office at Ross Road and Lynn Valley, and as always there will be hundreds of terrific "experienced" books to be purchased for small change.
