Broken Saints has been a labour of love since June of 2000, a labour of love because this medium does not generate an income. In fact, it costs a few cents every time someone clicks onto one of their links. Broken Saints is supported by donations from fans and by a series of local benefit concerts. "We don't make money," Burgess explains. "We make art - something that can be seen, heard and experienced." The artists are working part-time or living off their savings until the project is completed. In the meantime, their workspace is the basement of Kirby's Upper Lonsdale home, compliments of his parents. Besides the Sundance Award, Broken Saints has w o n several other honours and has been reviewed extensively in conventional and online media.
