C o m e in to see our great selection of travel brushes, pocket-sized pads and books, compact paint sets, and more, much more! Celesta Women's Choir plays host to young ladies from around the entire Lower Mainland. Members are selected by audition and must be able to memorize musical scores, regardless of the level of difficulty. The singers are dedicated to excellence and expressiveness in the study and performance of choral selections, that run the gamut from 12th century plainsong to 20th century idioms. Many of the contemporary selections are Canadian, some of which are commissioned. It was last year's group that decided to have its musical prowess tested by that of 25 choirs from around the world in a choral festival and competition known as Kathaumixw, held annually in Powell River, BC. In the end Celesta impressed the jury enough to receive t w o significant awards, one for being the outstanding choir in the "Equal Voice division', and a special recognition for 'the best performance of a Canadian composition", Murray Schafer's Snow Forms. Under the guidance of Peter Vanderhorst, Celesta has made large strides, growing from an ensemble to a full-scale choir. It sports its own web-site and functions as a non-profit organization. where artists prefer to shop' O P U S JOIN US MAY 22, 2003 F O R A N EVENING WITH WLNE & CHEESE Artists Paul & Babette Degan will present their unique experience of balancing their creative energy with business pursuits.
