Because it represents w h a t many of t h e stories in this issue are a b o u t - looking for, and f i n d i n g art in n o n - t r a d i t i o n a l , unconventional places a n d expressions. Sure, I can easily argue t h a t a fine sweet sculpted carve on a clear blue waist-deep p o w d e r day is a beautiful t h i n g . The track left upon the m o u n t a i n can be inspiring, challenging, r e w a r d i n g - a w o r k of art, by an artist. I could w a x metaphorically a b o u t h o w " a r t is everywhere." But in t h e pages t h a t f o l l o w , you w i l l f i n d t h a t art really is everyw h e r e - and in some of t h e m o s t unexpected places w i t h unexpected results. In Art That Makes Tracks on page 10, Cindy The mountains are such an integral part of life o n the North Shore - w h a t could be more natural and exciting for those w h o love the sporting lifestyle t o have a " n a t u r a l " venue for their art or art collection? Face it, t r a d i t i o n a l venues like galleries are often inaccessible t o y o u n g artists. But a s n o w board? A skateboard? Imagine the possibilities - let alone t h e f u n ! comes alive for students recreating Or, imagine the fun in learning science t h r o u g h dance, language arts t h r o u g h storytelling or m a t h t h r o u g h music. Students and teachers are discovering n e w ways of learning w h i l e exploring things t h a t challenge and interest t h e m .
