T h i s year, the focus o f the S y m p o s i u m is " A r t in Public Places." A r t i s t s traditionally l o o k t o s h o w s , o p e n i n g s , galleries, and s t o r e s t o p r o m o t e a n d sell t h e i r w o r k s . B u t artists n e e d t o e x p a n d t h e i r limited v i e w and rethink gallery s h o w s as the p r i m a r y way t o get their a r t seen. S o m e t i m e s artists can feel v e r y i s o l a t e d . B u t w h e n they c o m e t o g e t h e r in such a m a n n e r , it can b e a boost t o their self-confidence, not to mention the networking aspect of getting o u t t h e r e a n d enlarging t h e i r circle o f c o n t a c t s .
