P r e s e n t a t i o n H o u s e is n o w h o m e to the N o r t h V a n c o u v e r M u s e u m and Archives, Presentation House Theatre, Presentation H o u s e P h o t o M e d i a Gallery, and the A r t s Council. During development and restoration of Presentation H o u s e , the c o n g r e g a t i o n o f St. J o h n ' s C h u r c h d o n a t e d its o r i g i n a l c h u r c h -- a h e r i t a g e s t r u c t u r e b u i l t in 1 9 0 0 -- t o A r t s C o u n c i l . T h e building was m o v e d to the Presentation H o u s e site a n d r e s t o r e d w i t h d o n a t e d funds tireand v o l u n t e e r labour. R e n a m e d A n n e M a c D o n a l d H a l l , t h e building has n o w been p r e s e r v e d for arts and cultural activities. S o m e of the A r t s C o u n c i l ' s o t h e r a c c o m p l i s h m e n t s a s s i s t i n g in t h e c r e ation of the N o r t h S h o r e A r t s C o m m i s s i o n , managing the A m e s s Trust, and creating scholarships for a r t s t u d e n t s at C a p i l a n o C o l l e g e . A s an o r g a n i z a t i o n s t r o n g l y c o m mitted to both artist and community, the Vancouver elementary schools witho u t a t r a i n e d a r t t e a c h e r o n staff." F r o m its i n c e p t i o n as a non-profit, newsletter, assists cultural g r o u p s with promotion and expansion efforts, plays a m a j o r a d v o c a c y r o l e w i t h cultural issues (particularly the g r a s s r o o t s o r g a n i z a t i o n in 1 9 6 9 t o t h e p r e s e n t day, t h e A r t s C o u n c i l ' s m a n d a t e has always b e e n t o e n a b l e artists and to build healthy c o m m u n i ties t h r o u g h arts and heritage. O v e r t h e y e a r s , this v i s i o n has t a k e n flight. O n e of the A r t s Council's earliest a n d p e r h a p s b e s t - k n o w n p r o j e c t s is P r e s e n t a t i o n H o u s e . In t h e e a r l y 1970s, the A r t s C o u n c i l w o r k e d lessly t o o b t a i n a facility s o r e l y l a c k i n g in N o r t h V a n c o u v e r -- a c e n t r e Michael and Linda Binkley Feil for the arts. A s a result of these efforts, the C i t y of N o r t h V a n c o u v e r offered t o lease the o l d C i t y Hall c o n t i n u e d n e e d f o r facilities), o r g a nizes n u m e r o u s c o m m u n i t y based art projects, and stages t w o juried fairs annually.
