It's n o t s u r p r i s i n g that several N o r t h S h o r e residents are involved in the K i s s P r o j e c t , c o n s i d e r i n g that a l m o s t 2 0 0 artists will p a r t i c i p a t e in the four-week festival. D a n c e r Sandra B o t t n e n , a f o r m e r m e m b e r of C i r q u e d u Soleil, is a N o r t h V a n c o u v e r r e s i d e n t and w i l l be appearing in several pieces. M a r c u s e , a 20-year H o r s e s h o e Bay r e s i dent, is the nmission five-minute dance o r theatre creations, each of w h i c h had t o c o n t a i n a kiss. C a l l e d T h e Kiss C r e a t i o n s , t h e s e w o r k s have b e e n w i l d l y s u c c e s s f u l . T h e o n l y p r o b l e m is that each year brings n e w w o r k s , yet p e o p l e w e r e talking a b o u t past p e r f o r m a n c e s a n d w o n d e r i n g if they'd be s e e n again. " Y e t , s o many of the pieces we've p r o d u c e d at Kiss have had o t h e r lives. A l o t o f t h e m have d e v e l o p e d i n t o full-length pieces and many o f the pieces have been seen in o t h e r places. T h e y ' v e b e e n like seeds, like r i c h seeds. S o w e t h o u g h t , w h y n o t c e l e b r a t e them? A n d a lot of p e o p l e w o n ' t have seen all f o u r years [of p r o g r a m s ] , a n d s o m e p e o p l e w o n ' t have seen K i s s at a l l . " T h e s m o o c h i n g starts January 17 and e n d s a p p r o p r i a t e l y e n o u g h o n F e b r u a r y 14.
