visual arts biennial exhibition of Iran. A year later. Khooy-Fard designed an emblem for the Zoroastrian Women's Organization in honour of the fourth annual Women's International Conference held in China. One of her still lifes was featured in the book Iran: Contemporary Painting. While living in Iran. Khooy-Fard maintained a busy schedule working as the president of the art department for the Zoroastrian Women's Organization and as the art director of the Green Gallery. She also served as an artistic adviser and instructor at the Attlich Kara. In recent years, Khooy-Fard has used her artistic skills to create dry flower paintings: unique three dimensional pieces constructed from dried fruit, nuts, seeds, and found objects. Creating dry flower paintings is a labour-intensive process; hours are spent shaping flowers from such unlikely materials as shellacked walnuts and orange peels. Khooy-Fard moved to Canada with her family two years ago. Despite her successful career in Iran, she has struggled for recognition in her new home. She currently works at the Seymour Art Gallery, where she teaches pastel painting and drawing techniques. Khooy-Fard has exhibited her work at the North Vancouver City Hall, the North Shore Arts Commission, the Harmony Festival, and at the North Vancouver Arts Council Art Rental show. He has been able to recreate some of his research on traditional Iranian art and is gradually resuming his career as a painter. Shabahang recently contributed several works to the North Vancouver Arts Council Art Rental exhibit. Over the course of her career. KhooyFard has worked with many different materials, including oil paints, charcoal, and recycled objects. Her favourite medium, however, is pastels.
