arts editorial Note From the Editor 1 love my job. I meet interesting people and get to write about what they do. In fact, the only lime I even remember that somebody has to pay me is when I'm on my way to work and get stuck in the traffic going over the Lion's Gate Bridge. This issue, I got to meet more interesting people, but they were a little different. They made me cry. They weren't mean to me; they just told me their stories about their experiences with breast cancer. I found out an author whom I very much admire Questions About Breast Cancer? Call the Cancer Information Line 879-2323 or toll free 1-800-663-4242 Friday: is near the end of her life at the ripe old age of 50--because of breast cancer. I talked to a recording artist who lost her mother and her aunt to breast cancer. I read about 100 women who helped create an art exhibit by relating their experiences with breast cancer to 24 visual artists. Many of these women lost a breast, a loved one or their own life--because of breast cancer. That's why I cried. The courage of these women is incredible, their art inspiring (see page 4). This issue is also a landmark issue as it marks our one-year anniversary. Below are some comments we have received from readers over the past year. Enjoy.
