H a n d G a m e s also w o n g o l d in the N a t i o n a l M a g a z i n e A w a r d s and w i l l i n c l u d e d in the next Journey P r i z e A n t h o l o g y . B r a n d new for the festival was the Innovators series w h i c h w a s b i l l e d as c o m e d y for the head and b e l l y as artists demonstrated the depth and c o m p l e x i t y o f c o m i c u s i n g c o m e d y to c o n v e y ideas and attitudes. A l s o p o p u l a r was the street entertainers w h o p e r f o r m e d d a i l y at G r a n v i l l e Island to v e r y appreciative audiences. M i k e B a t t i e o f N o r t h V a n c o u v e r c o m b i n e d his j u g g l i n g s k i l l s w i t h c o m e d y to get lots o f laughs. Battie is an expert w i t h c l u b s and f l a m i n g torches, and a master w i t h his u n i c y c l e , stilts, d e v i l s l i c k s a n d d i a b l o .
