W est V ancouver Memories S p r in g 2 0 1 2 Ambleside Businesses The two pictures at the left are o f the same building at 1473 Marine Drive but one was in the early 20's and the other some 20 years later. Top Picture Pictures submitted by Eula (Paterson) Konoski. The top photo has her father standing in the doorway of his electrical store, West Van Electric. The family lived upstairs and at the rear of the store. There was a lumber yard on one side and Mr. Simpson lived on the other side. Note the wooden sidewalk. Second Picture This was taken in the late 30's or early 40's. The West Van News was in one half and Fashion Furs was in the other half. Note the addition of a chimney upstairs and a paved Marine Drive Third Picture This photo of Tite's Shoe Store is of the late 30's or early 40's. It too is in the 1500 block Marine Drive but not 1473. Any information a reader can provide would be most appreciated. These pictures cannot be archived since they are not originals. But they are still interesting. Bottom Picture A photo of the West Vancouver Lumber Company from the 1930's. Possibly the lumberyard referred to in the first picture. Address was 1497 Marine Drive.
