What do you remember of your first encounter with Park Royal, the bowling lanes, the ice rink, elementary! high school? In this case I would like to remember the favourite haunt of my the Odeon Movie Club. pre-teen years For me it lasted only from about 1950 to `53, but it was a great three years. It was before television and on a dark and rainy fall or winter day, it was a centre of entertainment for 9 to 1 3-year-olds. It was the hollering of "on with the show" and the running to the candy counter and the calling to all without parental supervision. your friends -- -- "The Odeon Movie Club" by David Barker It was two hours of Superman, Tarzan and Flash Gordon serials, Roy Rogers and Gene Autry movies, cartoons of Mighty Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester. Here we met "Our Gang" and "the Three Stooges", even the occasional "Pete Smith Specialty". It was at the Odeon Movie Club where for 25 cents we could be on our own, watching our type of entertainment. We were safe but we still could move about without being told to "sit still". We even got to walk there on our own. My kids should have been so lucky. Send in one of your personal memories. We would love to help you share them with others. --
