Crawford Kilian by Cheryl Whittaker Crawford Kilian is a college instructor and writer whose works range from science fiction novels and magazine articles to a weekly newspaper column. He has been an active participant in the North Shore literary and education scene for the last eighteen years. Born in New York, Crawford spent his early years in Los Angeles, California and Mexico City. He arrived in Van couver in 1967 with wife Alice as part of a travelling holiday and liked it so much, decided to stay. They have two daughters Anna and Maggie. Of his fourteen books already published, `Eyas' is Crawford's personal favourite. It's a science fiction novel about humani ty ten million years in the future. See if that doesn't get your imagination work ing overtime. As well as his books, Crawford has had six plays produced by CBC and writes occasional articles for The Globe & Mail, Macleans, Western Living etc. For R & R, Crawford and his family go hiking in Jasper every year. Walking the dog and having people over are other ways he relaxes. In his positions as English and Com munications instructor and Coordinator of Communications at Capilano College, along with his writing committments, Crawford finds " It's a busy life but not a particularly exciting one." His advice for " would be writers" -- " Write about what you want to write about but don't expect to make a living out of it." As for the future, Crawford looks for ward to producing more books and ar ticles on a wide range of subjects.
