Opinions about the new NS Arts Commission, Heritage concerns, studio space problems and this newsletter are just some of the subjects we would like to hear about. We will print your short letters. Arts Council Programs Rental of original paintings by local artists is a popular monthly event for many North Shore residents. Bring the family, children welcome. PICTURE RENTAL is held the SECOND WEDNESDAY of each month between 6 and 8 pm in the 3rd Floor Gallery of Presentation House. The next dates are Nov. 8, Dec. 13 and Jan. 10. The average rent is $5 and there are many wonderful works available. You can try something out and put the rent towards purchase. Even if you are not in the market to rent or buy, just come and browse. ENJOY THE SHOW. COMING ON NOVEMBER 8 TO PICTU RE RENTAL NEW JURIED WORKS by new and familiar artists. NVCAC Annual General Meeting North Vancouver Community Arts Council's 19th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING was held in September and the 89/90 Board was elected. New members Freida Wiebe, Valerie Moss, Peter Dowgailenko, Joi Carlin, Richard Strachan, Valerie Thoem, A1 Weber and Irwin Oostinde join Jacqueline Eddy, Ed Barnes, Judy Dennis, Conchita Furstenwald, Trevor Holgate, Cathy Martin, Roger Shaw, Barbara Perrault and President-Elect Donna Oseen from the 88/89 Board. Community Liason Ap pointments Steve McConnell, Aid. John Braithwaite, Jack W atts, Matthew Yeung, Illene Pevec and Jack McCor mack round out the new Board. Thanks go to retiring 88/89 board members for their valuable contribution and service to the Arts Council. Judy Dennis was awarded the NVCAC Award of Merit. " Her term as president brought to us the awareness of the pas sion and intensity of the artist along with the pragmatic and day to day realities of the business woman. Throughout the term of that position and the latter cochairmanship of the Cultural Policy Committee and her present position of Chairman of the Arts Commission, she has maintained the vision of what could be possible for the Arts on the North Shore. Guest speaker Gary Pen way, Planning Technician with the City of North Van couver, spoke about Heritage and show ed excellent slides of many heritage buildings in NV.
