PAGE 8 JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER KIee Wyck Painting Groups There are now three painting groups at the Klee Wyck Artists Centre each week. The Monday group has a number of NSAG members and has been in place for many years. They handle their own arrangements with the District. The Wednesday and Thursday groups, sponsored by the Guild, are just one year old and will be continuing again starting in September. What is it like being in a painting group? Here are some comments from current attendees · "I am painting a whole lot more. The day is on my calendar; I book other meetings and appointments around this. I do not get distracted from my painting by things that come up at the last minute" · "I love having the day for myself and my painting" · "The company was very enjoyable. I got to know a dozen or so fellow artists very well. It is more fun than painting alone". · "My work has improved noticeably. The informal feedback has been very valuable and in the process I have also learned to better assess a painting and decide what to change or improve. I have learned from the others" · "Working in the group has been inspiring and motivating. I feel encouraged" -- There are openings in the Wednesday and Thursday groups, so if you would like to join either please let Larry Achtemichuk know at achtemi@gmail.com or 604-802-5526. First come, first served. The sessions are from about 9:30 to 2:30PM. If there is enough interest we can likely also get other groups organized for Tuesdays or Fridays. The sessions will run from September through June, which will include about 36 sessions. The cost per person depends on the number of people committing to the sessions as the costs for the rentals are fixed. Last year the charge was $11 per day per person, as a guideline. To get around conflicts in schedules, if you cannot make your normal day, you can attend the other day to make up your time.
