For all you new br,bcth of-thes, exhibitions are juried and after you havettended three general 7 meetings you are eligible to enter the juryiri'gs. the rest of you, I hope you're painting up a storm for our May 3rd jurying! I would like to take this opportunity to clarify the surprise motion sprung on you at the last meeting regarding the increasing of membership fees. At our last executive meeting we realized we were on the verge of incurring a deficit and that increasing the fees by $5 per member would be one way of ensuring this didn't happen. If we'd announced our intention to raise the fees in this newsletter we would have had to wait a year before it actually went into effect as we always start membership renewals at the April meeting. We thought $5 was a minimal amount and wouldn't impact people adversely. I am sorry this situation arose without due notice but the decision was made in the interest of expedience. Apologies if it caught you off guard. November is a long way off but planning is in the beginning stages for our non-juried Annual Fine Art Show at the Parkgate Community Centre in Deep Cove. The groundwork has been laid by last years' committee so the lead-in time should go very smoothly. In May's newsletter I will be posting the various volunteer positions that we'll be looking to fill. In the meantime, if anyone wishes to become involved, please don't hesitate to call me before the newsletter comes out. Several members have already voiced their wishes to be on some of the committees. I encourage you to contact me, or any of the executive members, if you have any concerns, questions or suggestions. With such a large club it can be confusing and, perhaps, intimidating trying to glean information or clarity on something you are wondering about. See you next month!
