North Shore Artists' Guild (fonner! West Vanc ouvrkëtch Club) - March 2008 Page 7 Carrie (new member) feels we should bring our own mugs so that we don't have to waste all these Styrofoam cups. Barb suggested that we have paper cups available for those who forget their mugs. Marguerite Mahy feels the club is getting much too big (and other members echoed this sentiment). Marguerite would like a whole even ing of "input" from the members, perhaps by breaking into groups with an executive member attending each group. She feels the membership should be capped. Jacquie responded by saying that the executive has discussed the size of the club and optio ns such as membership capping, new venues, etc. have been discussed. Jacquie invit ed members to keep their eyes open for a new venue that may better accommo date us. Anne McMahon is concerned that we are losing members as quickly as we are gaining them and she is worried this is an indication of something wrong. Larry countered by saying these attrition rates are common within any club. He feels our current "spike" in membership is due to the success of the AFAS. Edith suggests that another consideration regarding the number of members is the impact too many paintings will have on juryings. Jacquie invited members to email the executive to express concerns so that we can try to include everyone's viewpoint. We have a new projector and camera to use for the demo tonight and we look forward to seeing how it works for us. A member asked if the demos could be recorded and then placed on our website video archives to be viewed on computers. Larr y asked if any member can edit the videos so that they could be made small enough to put on the website. Lucy brought up the topic of royalty payments for our demo artists and thus we will likely abandon this idea. - - - - 6. Meeting Adjourned. 7. Break 8. Art Demonstration
