(fcnrri'y WesL Vancanv jrtk SJioie4rtistsGui1d kejch Club) March 2008 Page 4 New Audio -Visual Equipment For those who attended the March meeting, they were able to watch the projection of Kiff Holland's demo as a much larger, clearer and better image than our previous system. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I am also very grateful to Gunvor Arnold, Peter Baxter and Gary Eder for coming forth to learn how to set up and connect the new gear. As they do this a couple more times we can share the effort in setting up and have some good backup in case one of us is not able to be there. Study of Meeting Venue Options St. Stephens continues to be a great venue for our meetings as it has been for decades. The location, parking, proximity to buses, the rates, the storage for our gear and Library, the built-in kitchen are all positives. However, we do have a ceiling height issue, we have posts interfering with sight lines, and as we grow in numbers we are crowded for the breaks and the chairs at the back are far away from the demo table. To address some of the issues the following actions have recently been taken: The new AV equipment now gives us a clearer and much larger image so it was much easier to see from the back of the room. We can try to make the image even bigger with a new screen. We got a bargain ($5) on 20 more chairs so we all have seats!! The placement of the Library along the side wall instead of the back this month gave us more room to mingle at the beginning of the meeting We need to see how to make the sign-in and coffee line ups go faster as the next step. - We have also assembled data on the attendance at our meetings as a base for ongoing discussions on member levels. Our largest attendance prior to this year was in September 2005 at 110 attendees. In February, 2008 we had 125 attendees, and in last week's meeting this number was 114. Whatever happens with membership levels, whether naturally or by explicit policies in the future, we owe it to ourselves to assess some venue options. It may be hard to beat what we have, and we should not raise any issues with St. Stephen's of course, but if you are aware of a venue we should consider please contact someone on the Executive. Notices News letter The deadline for input is the Friday after our Tuesday meeting.
