New members offer fresh energy and perspective while longer term members remind us of our important roots and goals. 82 members signed in at the meeting. New members are automatically considered signed in at their first meeting. Everyone is reminded to sign in at each meeting as this is an important requirement to qualify for jurying. While our membership numbers have not changed year over year, our participation on committees, at juryings and at monthly meetings has grown. Key reasons for belonging to the guild are learning, sharing, socializing and being part of the art community. We will continue to build on meeting these key needs which will further strengthen participation and volunteerism. The Membership Application form has been updated to capture more information about new members and their volunteer interests. This will help ensure new members get involved right away in Guild activities. Volunteerism drives the Guild and each of us must consistently look for ways to fine-tune our processes and break down the jobs into manageable tasks, which volunteers can then comfortably handle, without fear the job will take over their lives. If you'd like a job "advertised", please let Wanda know, If you'd like to take on a job, please let Wanda know. Job sharing is also encouraged. Committee positions were expanded this year and will be reflected in the new Roster. There are jobs suited to every ability and interest, so if you're not already involved at a level you'd like, please see Wanda. The Membership Roster will be updated and reprinted at the end of September so please ensure your information is up to date. Edith Warner put in place an excellent computer program to manage membership attendance and data, Anne broke the system in and now, with my very able assistants, the Membership Director job has never been easier. A few very important committee positions remain open: Exhibit Reception Captain to work with Cathy Roddie, Jury Assistant before and after juryings to work with Edith Warner, On-line Publicity Management, Meeting Room Setup Captain, Meeting Room Tech Set up, and Telephone Committee Captain.
