North Shore Artists' Guild (formerly West Vancouver Sketch Club) December 2007 Page 9 Website Update We had over 550 visits a day in the month of November to the Guild website, which is up a bit over the last few months, likely because of the Annual Fine Arts Sale. This would also count member usage. We now have over 1100 names in the Guild data base of contacts. These are from the many Peoples' Choice Awards we have had over the past two years, which is well managed by Jayne St. John. Included in this total are all of the 140 sales from this month's Fine Art Sale which were entered by Carole Wilson. Stifi to come are the many names from the raffle tickets, which Carole will be asking for help in entering at some future date. Note that a similar contacts capability is available to any Guild member for your own personal set of contacts. It is designed to be a non-techie and much simpler alternative to other approaches like e mail address books, spreadsheets and other desktop software. We are able to share the names from any ballots you got from People's Choice, or any sale of your work at one of our events. You can import these people to your own set of contacts easily. If you prefer, you can also share contacts from your personal list to the Guild if you would like us to contact these people on your behalf for upcoming events. For more information on this go to our website, log in, and select Information for Members on the menu, then click on Contact Management. It shows you how to take advantage of this capability. You do not need an artist website to use this capability. We currently have 66 members who have created and maintain their own personal artist websites on our Guild software. If any members would like their own artist website, contact me. Thank You A big "thank you" to Alan Reynolds, President of the West Vancouver Sketch Club from 1989 1990, who donated the whole series of International Artist Magazine to our library. - Copyright Infringement Please be aware that a painting may not be composed of more than 30% of someone else's work; either a copy of a painting or a photograph. Our Guild ruins the risk of being sued if someone recognizes the work of another artist in a member's painting. We know that "National Geographic" has sued artists for copying their photographs. Newer members may not be aware of this and it can't hurt for the rest of us to be reminded now and then. Happy painting!
