NOfthShorëAtists'Guild June 2OO7Page 6 -- This will be a unique and exciting series of sessions, and a fitting way in which to add to the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of the formation of the Sketch Club. It will also be a great opportunity to sketch and paint with fellow members, those that you may know and others that you will get to know much better in a creative and supporting environment. It will also be an effective way of sharing our art and interest in art with the community we live in, and make our Guild even better known. This wonderful initiative is from member Alfonso Tejeda, and we should all appreciate his efforts, ideas and leadership Thanks, Alfonso. If you have not already done so, please contact him at atejada@shaw.ca, call him at 604 988-4801 to add your name to the list of participants. You can also sign up at the June 19th Annual General Meeting. - There is also a proposal to have a mass group photo of our membership on Saturday, July 15 at Ambleside Park. This will mark not only the plein air sessions but be a legacy event in the history of the organization, and be a fitting memento of our 60th anniversary. We need to work through the logistics and potential costs but put this date on your calendars for now. In addition, some of you will know that the Park Royal Mall has sponsored a small tent in The Village in the past two years and will do so again this summer. This was referenced in last month's newsletter as well in Al Spence's Exhibitions section. It would obviously make a lot of sense to link this activity with the waterfront plein air sessions. The tent will be available every weekend in July as well, and also allows the participating artists to display pieces of their work. We have a limited space for a maximum of 4 artists per weekend. Members signed up at the last meeting and there are a few spaces left. Please contact Alfonso as well if you would like to sign up for Park Royal.
