Saturday, May 5th is the date for submitting paintings for the Spring Jurying at St. Stephen's Church from 9:00 am 1:00 pm. We will again be photographing the paintings. Members can also send in their own photographs. We will be jurying for the Capilano Mall Spring Show, Harmony Arts Festival and the Park Royal Fall Show. Up to 4 paintings will be accepted. The actual jurying will take place a week later on May 12th. You've got lots of notice this time so get those brushes moving!! He will be demonstrating a very unique collage technique where he creates acrylic `skins' and then cuts and designs with them on glass, later transferring the completed image to canvas. Sounds intriguing, doesn't it? You can see more of his work a www.fineartists.ca. · :: Winston Hartle, the Capilano College art student who sold their 2007 calendars at our November meeting, has invited us to his graduation show at Harbour Centre Monday, April 16th, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Join us for goodies, a glass of wine and celebration of these wonderfully talented young artists. After our February meeting several members asked me to reiterate the appropriate etiquette when we have a guest speaker or demo artist. These members were upset by the many "sidebar" conversations going on during the demonstration. Also, several people left before the conclusion of the demonstration and some, although not all exited through the front door near the demonstration. There is a door to the outside of the building by the kitchen and on the way to the bathrooms. Please use that door if you must leave early. It is distracting, both for the demo artist and for the rest of the members, when people walk past everyone and open and close the door during the demo. So please people and you know who you are! Be considerate. Do not whisper and chat during the demos and if you must leave early, be discreet and leave from the back of the audience through the other exit.
