The first is our regularly scheduled spring show at the Park Royal Mall from March 18 25. As before, we would like to suggest to all our members to invite their contacts to attend the show. We have decided not to have a reception this time around as the turnout for our last few mall show receptions has been quite modest, and would not therefore be worth the time, energy and costs involved. - Over the past two years we have raised the profile of the Guild and improved attendance and results from our shows considerably. Encouraged by these results and improvements, we budgeted more on publicity of our events this year. I guess we have learned that we can only invite our list of contacts so many times, so we need to fine tune our approaches to achieve a more balanced set of activities and approaches. The level of revenues from sales and other fees is not up to the level of last year so we need to adjust our spending accordingly. This brings us to the next initiative we will take over the next 2-3 months, which is a survey of our members. We have held these every 2 years or so and many of our programs and priorities come directly from this input. The plan is to conduct the survey, summarize the findings and results, and then discuss any changes in plans, activities and emphasis that this "voice of the members" survey suggests in some detail at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June. I have had several members provide me with their input on various matters and would encourage more of the same as this helps us to frame the survey better or give us perspectives on choices we could consider presenting there. Also, at the AGM, we will be electing several new executive members and filling the key committee positions in the Guild. If you can contribute to the activities and the future of the Guild by participating in one of these capacities, please contact Lorne Topham, Anne McMahon or Wanda Doyle, the Nominating Committee members, to discuss a role that will match your interests, experience or expertise. cEhi6itions J4lSpence 604-988-2737 spencenle@telus.net The Silk Purse show in January was an excellent show with a lot of top notch paintings in it. It maybe the time of year but very few paintings were sold. Charlotte Grundig sold her piece titled Collusion and the Peoples' Choice draw winner purchased Lorne Topham's painting Port Hope Boathouses The Park Royal Show will not have a reception this time, we will think about one at the Cap .Mall show which will be in May or June but a final date has not been established yet as Cap Mall is still working on their schedule. So bring your paintings that are on the list in this newsletter to the Center Court of North Park Royal, on Sunday March 18 at 6 pm. We need any men who feel up to helping Louise Nicholson load unload and transport the display panels from Klee Wyck to Park Royal. Please come to Klee
