His large scale renderings were such a bonus. It is extremely difficult for everyone to see insuch a large group. I had a request from one of our members after the demo. She had been sitting near the back of the room and did not see any of Alfonso's sketches and paintings that were handed to the people in the front row. Please be considerate of those folks sitting behind the first few rows and double up to view the handout material. Peruse them quickly and pass them on to the next couple of members seated beside you. Thank-you for your consideration. A big "thank-you" everyone for your patience with our sound system the other evening. It was quite a challenge sitting through the radio broadcasting through the ceiling during the business meeting and the "no mikeage" situation during the demo. Sheesh! We promise to work on this in time for our meeting in the new year. Our guest artist for the Yuletide celebration will be Tony O'Regan. Do you remember his amazing demo and subsequent workshop on his "Ten Ways of Seeing and Drawing for Design"? His paintings of Jazz musicians featured at the Shadbolt Centre two years ago were tremendous. His drawings and paintings have such incredible movement! Remember the party is December 13th, Wednesday (not Tuesday). See you all there. A final "thank-you" to everyone who supported the Capilano College art students in raising money for their field trip to New York in the Spring. Winston Hartle, the young student who was selling their calendars Tuesday evening, was overwhelmed with your generosity. So thanks, guys! The club presents an art scholarship to a Capilano College student each year so our support of their calendar event is especially meaningful for us. Frieda was an excellent teacher, explaining the many styles and concepts of the various abstract artists. We all produced several small paintings, which we displayed at the November meeting. Thank you Frieda for opening up a myriad of paths for us to discover! On November 24th 19 members came out to enjoy a day of "Playing with Yupo". Joan Fraser coached us through the creative and unpredictable nature of painting on this synthetic paper. We all created several fascinating paintings and many participants expressed their interest in developing their new found medium further. Thank you Joan. December 1st is our Pet Portrait workshop with Carol Holowenko. This is a pastel workshop and there is still room for a few more people. Contact me if you wish to attend. We would very much like to fill this workshop. From the show of hands at the November meeting, it looks like we have enough interest in a workshop with Craig Yeats. This has been scheduled now for Jan 20/21st and will be a `large' format workshop in acrylics. A supply list will be provided later. Sign up and payment will be taken by mail, at the Christmas Party and at the Silk Purse anniversary party. As there is no newsletter until after the January meeting, please contact me if you are interested in this workshop. 9vtem6ersflip Wantla Doy(e 1-604-896-0159 zvandad@telus.net 105 members signed in at the meeting. We also had 3 new members join us and 8 guests. I suspect this is record attendance for our club and I congratulate everyone on your dedication and participation. We are reaching the point of standing room only!
