The first is that the WV Library Show will now be held from November 1-30 so we needed to advance the schedule. The second is that we will not be able to have a Park Royal show in the fall as we have normally done. Thanks to quick work by Al Spence, we will now have a Capilano Mall show in mid- November instead, and the pre-holiday schedule may be a good advantage as well. Of course, these late changes also impacted our booking for St. Catherine's Church, where we normally held our jurying, so that injected another issue into the mix, Fortunately, we have come up with a way to manage through these changes. As you may know we had already been taldng photographs of all jury entries as part of our process. We will solve our scheduling and booking issues by having the jurors view these images on a computer screen to do their job. Most of our jurors are from the FCA, where they use this method for all of their jurying today: either looking at a computer for digital images or using a projector for slide submissions. The process we have used to get the photographs of our submissions is not new as we have been using it for a couple of years. In this way we will not need to have a gymnasium size room with 250 or so chairs. The job for the equipment team will also be much reduced no need to set up or take down some 250 chairs. - Overall the process is similar to what we have used before. The main difference is that instead of bringing your paintings in on a Friday in the late afternoon and picking them up on a Saturday afternoon, you bring the paintings in on Saturday afternoon, they are photographed and you take them home with you immediately. The results of the jury selections will be in our newsletter that will come out about a week later. You will also get your juror comments sent to you included with your newsletter or by e-mail depending on how you get your newsletter. There will also now be two ways in which paintings may be submitted for jurying: 1. The traditional way using staggered registration times: Surnames K Z come at 2:00 pm 2:45 pm; A-J come at 3:00 3:45 pm. to St. Stephen's Church (where we have our monthly meetings) on Saturday, October 14. The process will be the same as usual check eligibility, register the paintings, have numbers assigned and pay the registration fee. The paintings will then be photographed and the artist wifi take them home immediately. -
