II This is the 60th year of our illustrious history. We will be celebrating it in two main ways. The first is celebrating our history by collecting and assembling memories, archival information, and photographs to create and publish a history of our organization. Frieda Ashworth has kindly stepped forward to lead this activity for us and she will be assisted by Alannah Haynes. What she needs is to arrange to speak with or interview as many of our senior members to capture this information, any materials and photographs and so forth. She will be publishing a summary of these conversations and remembrances in our newsletters throughout the year and assemble them into a history at the end of the project. Please contact her to share your memories, to suggest good people to speak to, or if you were involved in past milestone anniversaries. You can also write some things down and send them to her. Thanks for all your help. The second way will be celebrating our 60th anniversary is with a couple of celebrations of the party variety. We are considering using the Holiday Party as one occasion and our Annual General Meeting next June as the second. At the beginning of a new term it is also an opportunity to stand back and see if there are anything specific things we would like to do, accomplish or improve during the year. I welcome any input in this vein that you may have. Thanks to past executives and input from members, I think we have made some important progress in the past few years. The new executive team, I am happy to report, is keen and active and have already begun to make their mark. You will see examples of their ideas and contributions in this newsletter and will see more in the future. On a more sombre note, we have leaned that former member Forrest Johnson, who last was with the Club about eight years ago before she moved to Victoria, passed away on August 15. She was 88. I am told she was a wonderful artist and a very active member of the Club. `Vice4?resiient cE,ditfi Warner 604-980-5358 warnere@ca.inter.net A reminder that we would appreciate all members that have an e-mail address and who still get their newsletter duplicated on paper, folded and stuffed, sealed and stamped and then posted, to consider asking to have your newsletter delivered as an e-mail attachment which is zero cost to the Guild, saves super-volunteer Cathy Roddie time and effort, and gets you the newsletter earlier, in colour and with extra pictures and images. To do this let I or Wanda Doyle know using the contact information in this newsletter, and provide your e-mail address if we do not already have it. Because we have moved the Executive meetings to a week before our monthly meetings instead of a week after them, the schedule for the newsletter this year should be about a week after our general meetings instead of two weeks as has been the case in the past. This should help with giving our members information on a timelier basis.
