There are a few highlights that I would recount from my point of view. These indude: This was the year that proved the theory we had been developing, that with some additional publicity effort we could get more of the right kinds of people to our shows. The new receptions and the invitation of many guests by our members, the new Peoples' Choice Award, has given us considerable incremental successes, whether you measure success by the number of people who attend our events, their reactions and support, or by the number of paintings sold, or all three. We also found out incidentally that our new receptions can be a great social event for our Guild members, whether you have a painting in the show or not, and is a great opportunity to see other members' works. Our website was expanded in capability to support the publicity initiatives. Any member can now store their contact information in the website and produce e-mail distribution lists, envelopes or postcards from this information. I also think that one of the accomplishments in the year was that we expanded our community presence and image. We became involved in the WV planning process for the Ambleside area through Past President Lorne Topham, and we seem to have expanded our relationships with the Ferry Building and the Silk Purse. We now have much more communications with the North Van arts scene. Thanks also to the initiative and energy of our Publicity Director, Gord Davis, we also had our best press coverage of our events for many years. · The other major development of course was our name change. This wasn't easy for some of our members, but on balance it has proven to be a very positive move, with lots of good feedback It has turned out to be a very good opening for us to do more with North Vancouver and other communities. As a final look ahead to next year, it of course will be our 60th anniversary as an artist organization. Stay tuned for some interesting and exciting plans to mark and celebrate our birthday and record our history. I am very pleased that Frieda Ashworth has stepped forward to lead our activities in that regard, and I am sure she would wekome any suggestions and assistance you can provide on this topic. · cE.4i6itwns 1 2 3 4 5 - J4(Spence 604-988-2737 allinspence@telus.net 6 7 On three Saturdays in July 2005 dub members painted outside and displayed their paintings for sale at the new village at Park Royal South.
