North Shore Artists' Guild (formerly West Vancouver Sketch Club) April 2006 Page 2 West Vancouver Yacht Club Sketches The Past Commodore of the WVYC suggested to me that they would be interested in a set of pen and ink greeting cards that they could sell to their members or use for Club business. While the details have not been determined, if you can prepare one or more pen and ink sketches of the Yacht Club grounds or outstations, or of suitable marine or boating subjects, and bring them to me at the May monthly meeting, we wifi select a number of these for this project. Assume that we can resize them to fit the greeting cards, so there is no real specification on size. The Guild and the artists will of course have credits on the back of the cards. I do not have any financial considerations worked out at this moment. cExfii6itions J4(Spence 604-988-2737 allinspence@telus.net The next event in our Guild activity is the May 12-13 jurying, so have 3 paintings ready to bring in. Our next jurying will take place on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. Each artist is allowed to bring up to three paintings. The jurying fee for each painting is $2.00, the hanging fee, if your work is chosen, is $2.00 per painting. To be eligible you have to have attended 3 meetings in the past year. We encourage our newer members to enter into our jurying. It is not a difficult process, just bring your paintings to the jury location at St. Catherine's Church, 1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver. Once there, the paintings are registered, numbered and photographed and put on display for the jurors. There are two jurors that come on the Saturday morning. For this jurying the jurors are Mile Svob and Stuart Slind. They each give a mark out of 4 and these marks are added together to give a total out of 8. Usually a 4 will get your painting into a show. Even if you do not have anything chosen at this time, don't be discouraged as most of us have experienced this from time to time.
