Sketch HARMONY ARTS 2005 September 2005 Page 2 of our members Notwithstanding a late start, we had another busy and successful year with over 50 work better exhibiting and 15 paintings sold. The new system with HAF office handling sales seemed to were able than last year. As many of the 67 juried artists were away or unable to attend several members that over 500 people to exhibit another painting. Over the busy holiday weekend it was estimated tent with two visited the exhibit each day. Although we had less space this year as we shared the from the Photography Clubs, we had space for 10 panels and 50 paintings. Compliments and comments painting and general public indicated that they enjoyed the exhibition and the combination of photography together. We provided over 220 volunteer hours and I can't thank enough the stalwart set work up crew and the many people who gave unstintingly of their time to help hang the paintings and extra and long 1ae shifts. Also the hard work done by Lorne Topham over the winter to ensure that we were accepted to exhibit. The list of sold paintings follows. Congratulations to all. Bob is a very experienced painter and instructor and he will demonstrate various watercolour and acrylic techniques for painting "water". Many of us find "water" a challenge so come with your questions and notebooks. Please bring a lunch as there is not a coffee shop in the vicinity. For the first workshop ONLY, I shall be taking registrations over the phone as the workshop will be held before the first scheduled meeting of the Sketch Club. The workshop will be given by Brittani Faulkes whose work is often featured in the Federation magazine. Brittani was born and raised in Nanaimo, B.C., and has lived in New Brunswick and in the historic fishing village of Steveston since 1993, where she maintains a studio and picture framing business. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (senior status, SFCA), the Pastel Society of Canada (senior status, PSC), and the Pastel Artists Canada (associate status, PAC). She teaches demos and workshops in pastel and in the processes of abstraction. Her artistic roots are in photography, computer graphics, and drawing. Britt currently works primarily with pastels and oil paint. Over the past few years her work has evolved from high realism to expressionistic landscapes featuring B.C.'s unique coastal habitations and scenery.
