Remember to tell your friends and contacts about the show, and use those great postcards to get people out to the show. We held our Executive meeting on May 30, which was delayed due to the Holiday on May 23rd. The Harmony Arts Festival Group Art Show submission has been finalized with the creative help of Edith Warner, Larry Achtemichuk and me. It is due by June 3 2005. Of course, we all hope that our application is successful as last year's Festival was a great success for our Club and the Festival as well. This newsletter is also the "official" notice of the upcoming Annual General Meeting. It would be great to see all of you attend. We will be voting on some changes to the Board for the next year, and a number of committee volunteers will be announced as well. It will also be a chance for you to renew your membership, so you do not miss being in the Roster for next year. The Standing Rules have been updated by Edith Warner to align them with the club's evolved and current practices. These changes will be presented to the membership at the AGM for your approval, and a copy is enclosed with this newsletter to give you an opportunity to review them before the meeting. The Survey results have revealed some interesting viewpoints which the Executive will address in the Fall. A summary will be presented to the AGM as well. A note to our Plein Aire painters (and those who would like to fry painting this way). I got approval from the Parks Board to use the west side of Lawson Park as an area where we could set up our paint boxes and display a sign showing our Club name. No direct sales can be made from the site but anyone expressing interest in your painting could be contacted later. If anyone is interested on taking this on and to lead an experiment, please contact me. Also remember the Roster Cover competition. Bring your Black and White Art work on a sheet 5.5in by 8.5in with your name on the back and hand it in to Lucy Collings at the meeting. The title of the workshop is Portraits in Pastel. On the first day, we will look at the structure of the human head and experiment with expressive gesture and contour drawings. Working with a model, we will then focus on tonal values in monotone. On the second day, we will focus on colour, using warm and cool contrasts as well as tonal changes to convey a sense of form and show the individual colouring of the model. Workshop tate: June 25/26, Time: 10 --3, Place: Klee Wyck Please bring a lunch. Coffee, tea and cookies provided
