Sketch 3.3 - May 2005 Page 7 Treasurer Richard Sharp 3.3.1 Richard reports that March was a slow month. The balance is our account is $1826.49 as of the end of March. Exhibitions Jennifer Turiner 3.4.1 Jennifer reported that the Brewsters show was a good one with a good crosssection of paintings. We will likely do another show there in the fall. Daphne McLean sold a painting at this show. 3.4.2 The Park Royal show is on. Jennifer thanked the volunteers who helped with the setup and those who stepped up to the plate at the last minute to help. Two paintings were sold as of Monday. Jennifer reminded members of the 6pm pickup on Sunday. - 3.4 3.5 Workshops Frieda Ashworth 3.5.1 Frieda reported that Suzanne=s workshop was fantastic. 3.5.2 Frieda reminded the members that there will be no May workshop. 3.5.3 There wifi be a portrait workshop given by Sue Cowan on June 25 and 26 and the sign-up for this workshop will be at the break this evening. The cost for this workshop will be $50. - 3.6 3.7 Education Gloria O'Neil 3.6.1 After the break, Gloria will announce tonight=s demonstrator, Edith Warner, who wifi do a demo on the use of the computer in relation to planning and fixing artwork. Publicity and Archives Deb Taylor 3.7.1 Deb showed the members the signs that have been made to promote this and future Park Royal shows. She invited members to take one to display on various roads! neighbourhoods and to return them to the club after the show. 3.7.2 There are postcards available at the break for a cost of 20/$5. 3.7.3 Deb announced member shows that were ongoing or upcoming. - 3.8 3.9 Past President Edith Warner no report demo to follow break. - 3. Membership Anne McMahon 3.9.1 Anne reported that there are 85 members in attendance, including three new members and six guests. The new members are Don Thomas, Keith Stewart and Connie Handscomb. 3.9.2 Anne brought the members= attention to the fact that she and Edith are on the nominating committee and this is the time of year where members are encouraged to volunteer to participate on a committee. The club also needs a treasurer, an assistant workshop person, and a socials chairperson, as well as many other committee members. She pointed towards a sign-up board at the back of the room which will also be present at the next meeting. 3.9.3 Anne reiterated that membership dues will be accepted at the May and June meetings. As well, Anne reminded members about the Roster Cover competition. 3.9.4 Anne told members about the Sophia Serret Gallery and Framing shop on Marine Drive owned by Sophia Serret who has agreed to give members a discount on framing their original artwork. New Business Lorne brought members up to date on the status of the Harmony Arts Festival. The venue will not be exclusive to the WVSC, so we will have to apply for this venue, along with anyone else who would like it. Apparently the North Short Photographic Society is interested in the Harmony Arts Festival, but is willing to share this venue with us. This may be our opportunity to ensure our participation. Applications for individuals wishing to participate in the Harmony Arts Festival are available online, at the library, or at the Harmony Arts Festival Headquarters. Volunteers.
