Sketch `Treasurer May 2005 Page 3 cRjcliarfSliarp 604-980-6884 rgsliarp@telus.net - we will be We are now about ¾ of the way through the year, and based on information so far slightly over our budget for the year. As mentioned in Lorne's comments, this is as a result of a one time expenditure we agreed to the new projector and related equipment that we use to improve the visibility and success of our demonstrations. Also, other costs have increased so we were not able to contain this cost as we may have in the past. I support the decision to increase our fees for next year to allow us to continue our "pay as you go" approach. - Wor&sliops cFnecfaAsfiwortI 604-985-8498 fashworth@shaw.ca . The workshop with Suzanne Northcott was enthusiastically received We all felt inspired to go out and produce superb sketch books at home and on our travels. The June workshop will feature portrait artist Sue Cowan. There are still a few spots available. Please phone Christa Schiegel if you are interested as Frieda will be away for the month of May. Portraits in Pastel Sue Cowan will be offering a two day workshop in drawing portraits in pastel. On the first day, we will look at the structure of the human head and experiment with expressive gesture and contour drawings. Working with a model, we will then focus on tonal values in monotone. On the second day, we will focus on colour, using warm and cool contrasts as well as tonal changes to convey a sense of form and show the individual colouring of the model. Supplies -newsprint -2 sheets of Canson mi-teinte paper in mid-value tone, any colour e.g. pearl, moonstone, steel grey. -charcoal stick and charcoal pencil -small assorted set of pastels, student or artist grade -pastel pencils are useful for small areas but not essential -eraser -facial tissues -workable spray fixative is optional. Coffee, tea and cookies provided Past-President cEiith Warner 604-980-5358 warnereca.inter. net It is that time again when we need to call on our membership to come forth and assist with the tasks that are necessary to keep our club as vibrant and excellent as it is. Many thanks to all of you who signed up or indicated your willingness to continue to take on this volunteer work. We will have the sign-up boards at the next meeting as well. BUT, please don't wait until then! Take a moment to look at the front section of your membership roster and call Anne McMahon or myself if you think there is a position you are interested in or would like to know more about. We welcome your calls. Our highest priorities in filling these positions are two Executive positions being our Treasurer and our Social Director. So if you like the smell of money or coffee WE NEED YOU! The Treasurer's position doesn't require that you have any great accounting skills it basically involves collecting and depositing moneys writing receipts and cheques. The Socials Director doesn't have to provide all the cakes and cookies we enjoy having a roster is created each year and people sign up to bring se goodies. The Social Director makes the coffee and tea and has an assistant to help them. - - - - Is that my phone I hear ringing???
