The spring Capilano Mall Show has been confirmed May 30 to June 5 with setup on Sunday May 29 after store closing and takedown on Sunday June 5 after store closing. "We Can Make a Difference" The Vancouver Guild of Fabric Arts and the Maiwa Foundation are asking for the help of the Arts Community, including the WVSC, to raise money for the rebuilding of two small villages in south Asia which were completely destroyed by the recent tsunami. Neither of these villages has received help from the major aid organizations. The plan is to help fund the purchase of tools for the villagers and establish a school and an orphanage for the surviving children of the region in Sri Lanka via an established trust fund there. On February 15 and 16, there will be a series of events held in the Exhibition Hall at the Roundhouse, on Pacffic Blvd. in Vancouver. In particular there will be a live auction on the evening of the 16th at 7.3Opm with a celebrity MC, a silent auction and a sale of works. Any artist who is willing to donate a painting (or other art) will receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of their donation, and if it does not sell for at least one third of the price the piece will be returned to you. You will be encouraged to include an artist's statement and locations/web sites where people can see more of your work. If you prefer to volunteer your time over the 2 days, that is welcome too. Please contact one of the following for information or to donate work.
