One of the requirements in the Club's by-laws is that those holding regular memberships "serve on the Board of Directors or on one of the Standing Committees or Special Committees for the current year". This is especially true for those members who submit paintings for jurying and who have paintings in our shows as well as those who take advantage of our workshops. These are the positions: Recording Secretary: Takes minutes at the general and executive meeting. Easy job for someone with experience! Like any secretary, you can run the whole show! Membership Director: Takes attendance at meetings, maintains the Club database on Microsoft Excel. Generates lists for newsletter labels, jurying and sign-in sheets. Designs the Roster with the President. Great job for anyone with a bit of computer experience. Workshops: Organizes three to five weekend workshops per year. There is an assistant to help. Position includes renting Klee Wyck, recruiting the artist teacher, signing up participants, attending the workshops. The September workshop has already been arranged. Speak to Barbara Clennan, the current Workshops organizer for any further information (604)988-2818 Education: Arranges and hosts a demonstrator for the general meetings. Good chance to meet that famous artist and have them share their ideas and experience with the members. Publicity and Archives: Publicizes our Club through notices in an established list of various publications, draws attention to our members' shows, and local community shows and opportunities. At the end of the year, archiving the "old" minutes and newsletters in the West Vancouver Archives. Socials: Makes and serves tea and coffee at the general meetings. Organizes baked offerings from other members; plans the Christmas Party with a committee. Morag Biagi will assist. Needs a volunteer with a sweet tooth!
