SketcnEbruiyoO4 I Pag14t Wews(etter/We6site £ariy J4cIitemicfiuk, 604-926-9640 lachtem@shaw.ca We currently have over 20 members with their websites on line. If you haven't done so yet please go to www.wvsketchclub.ca and see your fellow members' work. Note that you do NOT have to Login to simply view any of the artist websites. The Login is to access material and functions that is for "members only". When I look at these websites I am often struck by how seeing several paintings by an artist in one place really gives that artist a very clear artistic identity, which is difficult to notice just by seeing their work as one or two paintings at a time. One very interesting item is that Allanah Haynes has already sold one of her paintings as a result of it being seen on her new website. Congratulations! For those of you who were not at the January meeting, I was able to demonstrate the website during the break As a result, we had 20 additional members indicate that were interested in also having their own website. To help members get prepared for this we are holding two workshops in the next few weeks. The first workshop is titled "Editing Images" and teaches how to use a computer to edit a photo of a painting (cropping, rotating, trimming, correcting skewed images and improving the colour and contrast). This is a needed step to get our images ready for the website (and many other purposes) There will be three repetitions of this first Workshop at the following dates and times: Friday, February 6 at 9:00AM Monday, February 9 at 7:00PM or Tuesday, February 10 at 1:30 PM The second workshop is the "Website Loading" workshop and it is where you will actually create your website and learn to load your paintings and your biography into the site. There are also three times you can select from for this workshop: Friday, February 27 at 9:00AM Saturday, February 28 at 1:30PM, or Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30PM If you would also like to participate in these workshops to get prepared for your own website, send me an e-mail or call me for more information. All of the workshops are held at WizZone, which is at 1583 Pemberton in North Vancouver. There is a charge of $10 per person per workshop. The charge for hosting your website is $60/year ($5/month). For those of you who would like a website but are unsure of the learning curves and skills needed, you can get one of our able bodied volunteers in the Club to do this for you. There is a charge of $30 for this assistance. Contact me if you would like this option.
