WV 3N3 Serving Visual Artists from Lion's 1... y to Deep Cove since 1947 Next Meeting: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 St. Stephen's Church Hall, 885 22nd Street West, West Vancouver, BC -- cPresident 1, Editfi Warner 604-980-5358 warnere@ca.znter.net Greetings! I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer and is ready to paint and create! Your new executive has had their first meeting and I am looking forward to working with this enthusiastic, experienced and energetic group. Our focus will be in three main areas this year, getting our web site up and operational, increasing our financial responsibility, and developing 2 new venues a pre-Christmas show and sale and a high-profile presence at next year's Harmony Arts Festival. - Harmony Arts Festival: Lorne Topham, our Vice-President, has agreed to act as the committee chairperson for our Harmony Arts Festival project and we will need several volunteers to work with Lorne to assure the success of this endeavour. Please call Lome if you are interested in working on this project. Web Site: Larry Achtemichuk will be spearheading our web site development and will provide more information on that subject. Pre-Christmas Show and Sale: With regard to the pre-Christmas show and sale, many of you indicated a desire to have such an event this fall, the idea being we would find a space and try to have an open sale of art work in November. In order for this show to take place we again need a volunteer to chair and build a committee to handle this project. Our current exhibition director has 5 shows now to co-ordinate and all others on the executive have a full plate of responsibilities. If someone will come forward and take on this project we will provide whatever assistance we can but without a volunteer we will be unable to undertake this show this year. There will be more discussion at the upcoming General Meeting but please contact me if you are interested in this volunteer position. Time is of the essence if we are to do this in the coming year. Monday Painting Group: There is space available for members to join the Monday Klee Wyck painting group. This is an independent group that meets each Monday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and the costs are shared among those signed up for the group. This group has been running for over 20 years and without some new members it is in danger of closing down. Approximately 10 members can be accommodated and there would need to be a 4 month commitment paid in advance. Costs would be approximately $75.00 or $5.50 per session, per person depending on how many sign up. The group is also looking for a new leader to look after booking the space, collecting the money, etc. For more information, please contact Beba Metzner at 604-922-4825 or myself. Park Royal Show: Our first show is coming up very quickly; please see Al Spence's report for more information. I'm sure it will be another excellent show and look forward to seeing our display.
