,__ 200 Vain ?K4i2.'kw4 6O4- 929-4691 barbmatthews@shaw.ca The November 23 & 24 Janice Robertson workshop was a great success! Janice is a wonderful teacher and a charming person as well. She gave very good demonstrations of her watercolour techniques on special ifiustration board and then let us get to work. We all received any help and advice that we needed and got to use her wonderful photos for subject reference. Her amusing stories about painting in different situations entertained everyone and we finished the workshop with a great critique session of the work we did on the weekend and other paintings that people had previously completed. Janice was so knowledgeable and helpful in her critiques and was always encouraging. I think everyone came away with great works and a sense of learning something new. Thank you, Janice! I am planning a mixed media workshop and a pastel workshop for the New Year, more on these later when dates and artists are finalized. A new idea for the dull February and March months is a painting group to meet every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Klee Wyck. Many artists enjoy and benefit from painting in groups. There is good camaraderie, and their pre-scheduled nature can help ensure that phone calls, chores and family interruptions do not encroach on painting time. Participants can work on whatever they want and be in the company of fellow artists doing the same. I would like to limit this to 10 to 12 people just so everyone would have a table or space to themselves. The cost would be about $28 a month per person depending on the number of people joining. This opportunity is through the club and therefore I would need to get a commitment from people by January to keep our booking with Klee Wyck. Please phone me at 604-929-4691 if you think that you would be interested. If you are aware of any other painting groups that exist and may be looking for additional participants, please contact our newsletter editor, Larry Achtemichuk at 604-926-9640 or lachtem@shaw.ca, and he will include this information in the next newsletter. It is designed to not only celebrate the holiday season, but also to have us get to know each other in an informal and fun setting. If you feel you have not had enough opportunity to get to know your fellow members or learn more about the Club at our busy meetings, here is your chance! We will have a number of excellent door prizes, donated by local merchants and club members, and some fun events as well. If you haven't already signed up and/or paid for the Party, just call either Margaret Merler (604-9228973) or Heather Luccock (604-958-6570) to let them know you will be coming and so they can make sure that there are enough hors d'oeuvres and refreshments for you, and mail your cheque for $12. to Sunny Stringer.
