LEACOCK, STEPHEN The Leacock Roundabout (827 L431e) The best of Stephen Leacock and one of the funniest of this era. Hilarious nonsense including his banking adventure (My Financial Career!), uproarious accounts of his amazing uncle and fellow fishermen, some detective stories, nonsense novels and memoirs and his adventures as a lecturer. Wonderful! MARQUIS, DON The Lives and Times of Archy and Mehitabel Drawings by George Herriman (827 M35a2) Reckless and madcap the adventures of Archy and Mehitabel make lunacy desirable. First published in 1927 the philosophical chronicles of the lively little cockroach and the careless cat have not become dated. As Mehitabel says, with a hint of melancholy, life is always "Toujours Gain. SKINNER, CORNELIA OTIS Our Hearts Were Young and Gay (914 S62e) The gay adventures of Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough abroad in the twenties when they were not quite twenty. Filled with joy, humour, wit and a little trepidation, these two indomitable "young things" do Europe as it has never been done before. Complications with measles, an English nobleman, a shipwreck, a drowning man and a few celebrities Cornelia and Emily remain innocent and undaunted. However we're reluctant to take this step (fearing the wrath of the Friday evening people) for the 1lowing reasons: Vancouver Children's Festival: Performers from West Vancouver Memorial Library will be at the Storytelling Tent at the Children's Festival on Friday, May 19th, at 1:15 p.m.and 2.15 p.m. Come out and support us!
