AWARD WINNERS North Vancouver fabric artist BARBARA HEAD has recentiy won two awards for her work. Last November her piece, "Tidewater Pacific" was awarded second place and $2000 at a national show in St. Catherines, Ontario. This prize-winning piece is currendy hanging at Circle Craft Co-op on Granville Island. Barb is a member of Circle Craft and has sold several pieces there. More recently, "Sanctuary--Rainforests Remembered" by Barbara was awarded the Gingher Award of Excellence plaque and $500 at the Pacific Perceptions Quilt Exhibit which was held in conjunction with the Quilt Canada '89 Conference in May at UBC. Both of these prize-winners, like much of Barb's work, concern diemselves with life on the West Coast and reflect Barb's concern for environmental issues. NSAN congratulates Barbara. Photo by North Shore News MARY SAVAGE of North Vancouver received one of the top three awards at the Images and Objects visual arts show held in Chilliwack in May as part of the BC Festival of Arts. Her work entitied "McKay Creek", was chosen from 266 entries from 12 BC regional juried shows. Mary has exhibited in NVCAC's Art in Public Places program and NSAN was lucky enough to be able to feature Mary's sketches in our last issue. We congratulate her for this wonderful win. 7
