I t w i l l a c t as an advocate and s e r v e a p l a n n i n g and evaluation function. T h i s i s a f r e s h and i n n o v a t i v e format f o r a r t s s u p p o r t . I t puts the a r t i s t i n a c e n t r a l p o s i t i o n , s u p p l y i n g the n e c e s s a r y v i s i o n , s u r r o u n d e d by e l e c t e d m u n i c i p a l members who w i l l p r o v i d e the r e a l i t i e s of budgets and s t r u c t u r e s . B r o a d l y based and s u p p o r t e d by m u n i c i p a l s t a f f , the Commission combines the b e n e f i t s of a C u l t u r a l Department w i t h t h a t of d i r e c t community a r t s i n p u t . I t has been the A r t s C o u n c i l s v i s i o n t h a t an A r t s Commission was "the way t o go" t o s u p p o r t and d e v e l o p the A r t s on the N o r t h Shore. She was the f i r s t Chairman of the L i o n s Gate N o r t h Committee. Co-owner of D e s i g n West I n t e r i o r D e s i g n , she i s m a r r i e d and has t h r e e s o n s . Judy earned a BA i n I n t e r i o r D e s i g n a t the U n i v e r s i t y of Manitoba and i s an a c c o m p l i s h e d m u s i c i a n . A c t i v e i n the community and c h u r c h , she i s one v e r y busy woman.
