Board Motion to the Membership of the West Vancouver Historical Society on Changes to the Society's Mandate The Board passed acceptance of a proposal put forward by its Mandate sub-committee on February 12, 2015. This proposal is to be voted on by the members of the Society in attendance a Annual General Meeting on May 20,2015. Proposal The mandate of the West Vancouver Historical Society is to: · promote awareness of the history and development of West Vancouver, (same) · foster an appreciation of West Vancouver's past, (same) · encoiurage community participation in celebrating West Vancouver's history, (change) · use a variety of methods to tell the story of Wfest Vancouver and members of the community both past and present, (new) This set of statements will appear on published documents and the West Vancouver Historical Society's website. T h o u g h t s o n the F u t u r e The following guide to the Board was also ratified at the February 12, 2015 Board meeting. It is not a mandate, rather it is a guide and may be altered at any time by a Board motion and subsequent ratification. · increase community presence " develop a Facebook page sponsor a Christmas tree at Dundarave Festival ~ participate in Harmony Arts Festival participate in Community Day participate in Heritage Week " publicize website on all our material and pieces of communication " produce a new history book every three years if possible " republish "Cottages to Conumuiity" within the foreseeable future · increase membership and diversity (age and ethnic) utilize social media ~ reach out to ethnic and age groups by offering to speak to schools and cultural organizations - seek help from membership to do this " continue to be economically self sufiicient ~ revisit "Thoughts for the Future" at the first Board meeting in September of each year.
