Ian Macdonald Honoured by the Society Ian Macdonald has been a member of the West Vancouver Historical Society for over 20 years. He has served as President andVice-President several times and been a constant advocate for the society's aims. He has represented the Historical Society on nearly every historical advisory board that the municipality has created. He was instrumental in forming PALS a committee designated to help save the Point Atkinson Light Station. He has been involved with the Hollyburn committee set up to save the Hollyburn Lodge and to involve the Municipality in this project. He located the Hollyburn letters from the old post office and had the municipality mount them on the John Lawson Park kiosk. Along with Peter Hall he made sure that the federal government designated the Lions Gate Bridge as a national historic site. You name it, Ian has been involved in it. Ian has spoken to, cajoled and even on the odd occasion harangued, the local municipal officials and councils over protecting West Vancouver's heritage both physical and spoken. He has made sure that the powers that be have been aware of historical concerns. For his continued advocacy for the preservation of West Vancouver's history, the West Vancouver Historical Society was proud to honour him at our May General Meeting as a Life member in the Society.
