H i s d a u g h t e r M a r j o r i e l i \ e d there u n t i l h e r d e a t h at the age o f 9 0 i n 2 0 0 1 . T h e g r e e n lens i n d i c a t e d that it was safe to pass o n the right side. I n 1922, w h e n the d r i v i n g c h a n g e d f r o m the left to the right side, these lights c o u l d n o l o n g e r be used. H e m o \ ' e d to the West \ a n p o r t i o n (a c o m m u n i t y o f b a r e l y 12 homes) o f N o r t h V a n i n 1910. H e j o i n e d the n e w l y f o r m e d B o a r d o f W o r k s . H e used these tools to h e l p construct the first ferry w h a r f at D u n d a r a v e a n d later the s e c o n d one at A m b l e s i d e . H e also used these tools to help construct the West V a n F e r r y B u i l d i n g a n d the c o m m e m o r a t i v e a r c h at M a r i n e D r i \ e e n t r a n c e to West \ ' a n at the Capilano Riven H e a n d his wife J a n e t h a d 6 daughters a n d 2 sons. H e w o r k e d for the M u n i c i p a l i t y a n d the S c h o o l B o a r d . H e retired f r o m the s c h o o l b o a r d post i n 1954 but w o r k e d for it p a r t time u n t i l 1955.
