WESTVANCOUVER M E M O R I E S President's Report We are getting to tlie final weeks before the manuscript of Cottages to Community is handed over to the printer. Our author, Francis Mansbridge and our photographer, John Moir, have completed their basic work and are submitting the-- material to our designer, Colleen Wood, the same designer that handled A View Through the Trees written by Elspeth Bradbury. We were so impressed with her work that we have engaged This has helped us achieve our minimum fund raising target of one half the cost of publication. We are still accepting donations and hope to continue raising funds until the June 1st cut off date for the inclusion of donor's names in the book. It is important to remember that any "profit" that is rjiised by the Society will be returned to the Archives, Museum and Library for the preservation of the History of West Vancouver. Our next General Meeting will be our Annual General meeting and will feature Doug Macauley, leader of the West Vancouver Youth Band, on the history of the Band. Reminiscing on the eariy days and today should be fun. We recendy received a request from one of our members to we are consider a daytime meeting during the winter months. considering a Saturday afternoon general meeting in the Winter, what do you think? There is one form for those in town and one form for those who wiE be ordering from out of town. We have discovered that shipping costs are a litde more than we expected, so we will be charging postage for mail order books. Pre order forms are contained in this newsletter Fund raising has been going well. We have over 70 donors in the $100-1499 category; 8 in die $500$999 category; 6 in the $1000$4999 and 1 in the $5000 plus category. We recentiy received a second grant from the West Vancouver Foundation of $5000.
