For example, a recently announced, extremely long, bulky document by the World Bank, titled Attacking Poverty, made news headlines a few weeks ago. A looseleaf version of this document is available at the Library in the Reference collection; it is also available at the World Bank Web site. To simplify matters, however, the Reference Department has made the full text of this report available through a link in our catalogue, and if you have the Internet at home, you can read the full text from your home. There are growing numbers of full-text government documents available through our catalogue, for example: A Parents'Guide to Selecting Child Care, TransLink Strategic Transportation Plan, A Primer on Fresh Water, Burns Bog Ecosystem Review, The National Hockey League in Canada , Waiting Lists and Waiting Times for Health Care in Canada ... to name a very few. You may be able to consult the Sydney Olympic results by signing on to their homepage at: http://www.olympic.org/. where you can find out almost anything about the Olympic games, except the meaning of its 5 coloured interlocking rings logo. Encyclopedias explain that the rings represent the world’s 5 continents, the colours representing at least one colour of the flags of the competing countries. It is a riddle, however, for many, including Olympic buffs, to find the International Paralympic Committee Web site on the Internet. It’s because when using a search engine to find it, many people spell the search term incorrectly as “Paraolympics†or “Parolympics.†Its homepage address is: http:// www.paralympic.org/. A recent question was: what is the Paralympic logo and what does it stand for? The answer was on the Committee’s homepage: “The logo is 3 coloured drops: green, red and blue: green representing mind; red representing body; blue representing spirit. The Internet is not always the most efficient method of finding information. Reference texts should be used in conjunction with the Internet. ULT SERVICES IN THE GALLERY... “Repetition in Reflection: Earth & Water†... by Moira Thompson and Meg Torwl, will be on display October 2 - October 29,2000. Moira is a ceramic artist and this show of tile work is a departure for her. These tiles are entirely of recycled clay. An eclectic selection of kitty tiles, mermaids, ditzy dogs and others.
