According to Peter Lorie's book Superstitions, mythical legends surrounding the mirror are some of the oldest. It was commonly believed that one's reflection is another version of the original, and if we damage the mirror we are consequently damaging ourselves. Damaging the reflection is damaging the soul. Even disturbing the reflection can cause an imbalance in the relationship between body and soul. This is where the 7 years of bad luck comes in ... based on the belief that the body changes its physiological make-up every 7 years. Fortunately, however, there are remedies that will reverse the destiny of the damaged soul. The broken pieces of mirror can be buried in the earth to neutralize the potential evil, or the pieces can be washed in "south-running" water to wash away the bad luck. Whatever the antidote, the essential primary step is to remove the remains from the house. ADULT SERVICES IN THE GALLERY ...
