December ’H LIBRARY NEWS vJ ( '<7'W^l{ A Season of Gifts the Christmas season approaches, we are pleased to acknowledge two outstanding gifts to the Memorial Library. Anthea Mallinson is a young West Vancouer artist who has "been happy to enjoy this library since my childhood.” Her tapestry ”Woman and Child,” depicting a universal image of a mother shielding her child from life's unknown hazards, has been part of several prestigious exhibitions, notably the first Kyoto Craft Competition International, 1986. It has brought to life the west wall of the main floor gallery where it now hangs above the archway dividing the old and new parts of the building. Marie Moscovitch, another longtime supporter of the Memorial Library and the community, has donated the gas fireplace, drapes, sofa, paintings and green table lamp that have transformed the reading room on the reference level into what must be one of the cosiest, most attractive public rooms to be found in West Vancouver.
